The Folk Music Society of Huntington presents
Hard Luck Cafe at the Cinema Arts Centre’s Sky Room

Acclaimed singer-songwriters Cathy Kreger & Steve Robinson

For over 20 years Cathy Kreger and her guitar have been touring throughout the Northeast performing in small theaters, bars, churches, colleges and homes, while building a devoted following. Her musical style is an unique combination of adult contemporary and old blues, with an alternative folk flair. Noel Paul Stookey (of Peter, Paul and Mary) once said “No doubt about it. She has a great voice and really has her act together.” Her original songs of true-life stories will pierce your heart and evoke tears and laughter along the way. Kreger turns folk, rock, blues, and pop influences into a lyrical and melodic style that is as passionate as it is polished. She has released four CDs to date. Her latest CD release Pure Imagination has garnered rave reviews, securing her a place in the singer-songwriter/acoustic arena.

Steve Robinson, winner of the 2007 Long Island Blues Society’s Blues Challenge, is a native Long Islander. He has been a carpenter, high school English teacher, commercial shell fisherman, truck driver, landscape crew foreman, air traffic controller, union rep. and computer programmer (and those are just some of the jobs). “It hasn’t been dull”, as Ellen, his wife of 39 years, puts it. What he is now is one hell of a songwriter, guitarist, singer, and performer. “Music has always been a big part of my life. I’ve been singing for as long as I can remember. It’s an Irish thing.” Steve is a self-taught guitarist and has developed his own unique finger style, combining driving rhythms with tasteful licks. His songwriting abilities were confirmed by fellow songwriters when they chose him as the winner of the coveted ISS Writer’s Choice award the first time he entered.
