Starring Michel Piccoli
When the man chosen to be Pope freezes at the immense responsibilities, a psychiatrist is called in to help the elected Pope overcome his nerves in this gentle comedy from acclaimed Italian filmmaker/actor Nanni Moretti

Nanni Moretti (The Son’s Room, Caro Diario), the great Italian satirist, turns his endlessly creative mind to the inner workings of the Vatican in his sparkling and at times sobering new fable. The result is a magnificent blend of high-concept humour with a deeply affecting portrait of a man elected to an office that carries crushing responsibilities. When the newly elected Pope (the great French actor Michel Piccoli (Contempt, I’m Going Home) suffers a panic attack just as he is due to appear on St Peter’s balcony to greet the faithful, his advisors, unable to convince him he is the right man for the job, seek help from a renowned psychoanalyst (and atheist). What follows is a marvelous insight into the concept of a human being existing behind the title of God’s representative on Earth.  We Have a Pope is the latest film by Moretti to make wonderful use of humor while dealing with serious issues and showcases his deep humanism.
