Coupling, The Mating Game. What is it that folks need
or think they need in a mate? Maladaptive, a bittersweet
la ronde romantic comedy with a knowing eye, covers
the playing field: Stuart a nice-looking, 17-year-old
male’s first affair with Emily, an attractive
30-year-old woman with a yen for the fresh innocence
of youth; Graham, a middle-aged professor in a mid-life
crisis is about to screw up his mature married relationship
because he is struck by a yen for Emily, a younger woman
who just happens to be the best friend of his wife.
Deceit rather than candor is the order of the day as
partners struggle with their conscience and their problematic
needs.
