Kevin Sean Michaels' new documentary Vampira: The Movie, chronicles "glamour ghoul" Vampira, who wandered through a hallway of mist and cobwebs each week to greet lovers of obscure horror movies on a new medium called television. After less than a year on the air, Nurmi was featured in LIFE Magazine and had fan clubs all over the world, not to mention admirers among Hollywood's elite including Marlon Brando, James Dean and Anthony Perkins (she later claimed to be haunted by Dean's ghost). After the show’s premature demise, Nurmi appeared once again as Vampira in Ed Wood’s Plan 9 From Outer Space.
